Slide Potentiometer Test

This is just a test. Nothing more.

How it works is rather simple; the resistance of the potentiometer is read by ANALOG IN 0, and it map()s the values so it will light 20 LEDs with 74HC595 shift registers.
I wanted to see this logarithmic pot work linearly, so I added a 'filter' thingy (from this thread in a forum; check the last post. [http://www.electronicspoint.com/threads/convert-log-pots-to-linear-pots.70898/]). Now the pot imitates a linear one. I've proven it in the video by pushing the slider to the middle, you can see in linear mode(when the LED on the right is green), the LED bar inches up to its middle too, but not in log mode(when the LED on the right turns red) (wow long sentence!).

I didn't know what to do at the end of the video, so I hesitated a little.

Capacitor Explodes

Yesterday, I was playing with my old 100µf capacitor. I plugged it into my 12 volt 1 ampere power supply, and it exploded. Bam! It exploded.

Poor cap...

My Parts 8. Transistors

I like transistors. Without transistors, I wouldn't be posting this post.

I like C1815 the most. It was my first transistor.

My Parts 7. Diodes

Lets current flow only in one way with a slight voltage loss.

My Parts 6. Inductors, Relays and Transformers

Inductors... something I don't understand.

 Inductors, Relays and Transformers

My favorite relay. (It's transparent)

My Parts 4. Variable Resistors

These are resistors with a variable resistance determined by physical motion.

This box is messy

My Parts 3. Resistors

Ahh.. I use them a lot.

 200 resistors?

750 ++ resistors!!!

My Parts 2. Other Capacitors

My other capacitors. There are ceramic, polyester film, mylar, box capacitors. But I like ceramic the most.

Oh yeah, and a 33 pf variable capacitor, too.

Double Fan

Combined two 200 mA computer fans for lots of wind.

Input 12 volts
Consumed about 500 mA

My Parts 1. Electrolytic Capacitors

1. Electrolytic Capacitors
My capacitors. (Ceramic, polyester film, box capacitors on another episode)
I have a lot of capacitors. I made a big capacitor bank out of all my capacitors and it read about 46800 microfarads. That's it.

My Parts

I will brag about my parts (hehe). This is a series of pictures and I will be posting one every time I turn on the computer (about everyday).

I keep my parts in this 20 bin parts bin.

Desoldering

Not long ago I desoldered an old PCB from a dumpster near my house. It had lots of transformers and capacitors so it was worth a try.
